Disappointing :( By Sherril I wanted a steam cleaner that vacuumed and steam mopped, independently or simultaneously...this machine does that, but... 1. Claims to not wet floors as much as other steam mops...not true...puts down a lot of moisture...floors remain wet after steaming. I have to go over with a towel to dry...and towel is dirty every time...so, the steam may disinfect as it claims, but it just does not clean up the dirt and debris...the cleaning pads are very thin and get soiled easily unlike the Shark steam pocket mop. 2. Claims to be easy to use...not true. The cord is forever coming off the handle. If left sitting on its provided "mat" for just a moment (while moving furniture out of the way, etc) it leaks out a lot of water. It leaks out a lot of water when first plugged in and waiting for unit to heat up too. 3. Claims to vacuum....actually, it bristles up debris, but does not do a great job of that...the debris gets caught up in the front where the brush is and since the debris is wet from the steam (if steaming at the same time while vacuuming) then it will drop wet debris back on to the floor especially if bumped. 4. Claims to not use as much water as other steam models...not true, I have to fill the reservoir 3xs more compared to the Shark Steam cleaner. 5. Handle is extremely long and not adjustable...difficult to use for steaming under beds. 6. Claims "hands-free" soiled pad removal...not really. While the steam plate can be removed by foot, you still have to use your hands to pull the pad off the steam plate. I own a Shark Steam mop and it works great, but I didn't like their steam/vacuum mop as the vacuum and steam functions cannot be used simultaneously. Definitely returning and will go back to vacuuming with a vacuum and steam mop with the Shark floor steam mop until a better machine is discovered/created. See all 1 customer reviews...

Gasko I received my new Dirt Devil Multi-Cyclonic two days ago. Put it through its paces. It's better made (better build quality) than I thought a Dirt Devil would be. Very impressed. Cord is on the shorter side, but that's a small concession for a very reasonably priced vacuum. The brush bar in the Power Nozzle has some good, and one not so good quality issues. For the good: the belt cannot break (geared belt) with a reset button if it jams. The height adjustment works perfectly, and I'm delighted there's a headlight (although a light on the front is not a deal breaker for me - it is for others). The brush roller is narrow in diameter - so you'll find yourself cleaning hair from it more so than if it was larger in diameter. The opening on the bottom of the Power Nozzle is also narrow - that's to optimize the pick up on bare floors, which it does superbly. I never saw any other power nozzle (with brush in OFF position) pick up as well on bare floors. However, on carpets, it's great for low pile and medium plush - forget about it on high pile (shag and frieze) carpets. The narrow suction opening sucks so hard into a high pile rug, makes it hard to push. On medium plush and low pile berber, it's fantastic. Emptying is easy, I like the cup design to contain the fine dust when emptying, it doesn't 'drop' hard into the trash can - you pour it in without a cloud of dust rising in your face. The crevice tool falls off the body of the cleaner when you clean stairs (and the machine is sitting upright) - but for normal use it's secure. If you clean stairs, you're probably using the crevice tool anyway - so it's not a big deal. HATE the dusting brush - stiff bristles are great for scrubbing, but you cannot ever use it on your big screen TV or delicate drapes to dust. It WILL pick up pet hair from the sofa - but the there's no upholstery tool so you have to use the dusting brush. The filters as washable for the life of the cleaner (excellent) and the 8 cyclones (Root 8 Cyclone technology) do their jobs efficiently. No Loss of Suction is common today now that Dyson's patents are expired, and this cleaner makes use of those patents in a quiet (surprisingly quiet) and efficient way. The front swivel wheels (2 of them, not one like most) make the cleaner roll beautifully, and it's surprisingly light weight for a cyclonic vacuum. All in all, an excellent buy. BUT - if you still have a favorite duting brush from an old vacuum (like an Electrolux for instance) - save it. You'll want to use it with your new Dirt Devil (and since the D.D. uses standard 1 1/4 inch fittings - it's easy to use other attachments with the D.D.) LOVE the steel telescopic wand. Since Dirt Devil and Hoover are owned by the same company, and I have the Hoover "multi-cyclonic" version of this vacuum already - it was easy to compare. The Dirt Devil is the better machine - since the cord is one foot longer AND the hose swivels at the handle end - plus the power nozzle has a headlight AND a longer brush roller. You'll get your money's worth - and then some - from the new Dirt Devil Power Reach. 12 of 12 people found the following review helpful. My Love / Hate Relationship with this Vac By Yarii Growing up my parents had a very expensive canister vac, and as a young girl I thought it was fun to vacuum, now it's NOT so much fun - and this will take some getting used to before I decide if I like this canister after using uprights for years. I have a 2 year old Dirt Devil upright and it has some similar features as this, such as the one-touch-to-empty dirt cup which I love. In general, uprights are easier to use because you don't have the canister tagging along behind you, getting caught on corners of furniture, and even the walls. However, the uprights are also heavier to push and can't go in every nook and cranny like a canister

By Ronald McDonald Recently purchased this item latter part of Dec 2007. It's going back as soon as a return authorization is obtained. This unit is big and bulky and does NOT lend itself well to being a very useful "handheld", everyday tool, and I found it's accessories uncomfortable to use. Also, I felt it was slow getting "up to steam" and it felt "heavy" with a full load of water. Additionally, it seemed to not want to work properly when the unit wasn't particularily level. Steam cleaning, in principle, is a great idea, but it seems this product's adaptation and implementation of the principle is not good. Save your money or look elsewhere if you must have a handheld steam cleaning unit; this unit was too expensive and did not work well in this user's opinion. 5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Absolutely does not work By Kimberly Salinas Purchased this to clean outdoor grill and smooth top stove. It didn't even perform half as well as using a warm wet sponge and a little bit of elbow grease. The extension nozzle provided, which is suppose to help in hard to reach areas is of no use. It is impossible to push the trigger on the machine, direct the extension nozzle separately and handle a rag or sponge to clean up the mess it makes all at once. In my opinion, as the steam travels down the extension nozzle it loses heat and what comes out of the end is warm air, not steam. It was so weak, I even placed my hand in front of the steam exiting the extension nozzle to see if it was even working (in hindsight, probably not a good idea). It was no warmer than the hot water out of my faucet. I tried to use this on the knobs of my stove; didn't even remove the oils on the knobs. Tried on the chrome hardware in my bath area, no change in appearance. Tried on a bbq utensil, no change either. Save your money, do not purchase this. 5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Very Very poor product By Timorell Followed instruction explicitly. Very strange that a unit would be "ready" when the ready light goes off... After waiting more than an hour, the light finally when off but the unit produced no steam. I spent a great amount of time troubleshooting and was never able to make it work. Seems very heavy for a steamer unit that I would be holding to steam clean shower tiles, sinks, etc. Would definitely not recommend it. See all 13 customer reviews...

Does not hold the charge for longer than 5 minutes and By ColombianGandhi Less than a year old, less than 5 charges and the charger went bad and probably it damaged the battery. The vacuum didn't last too long, five minutes and the battery was drained. I wanted to buy another charger but it seems that it is a difficult charger to find. It is a 16VAC ~150MA. (AC is alternating current and most places I went they sell DC or DIRECT CURRENT.) I definitely would never recommend this hand vacuum. See all 1 customer reviews...

By Lauren Larson I stumbled upon this item, when searching to get the new Shark steam floor mop, which is being advertised on TV. Unable to find a way to get the "free" mop covers for the unit online, I bumped into this item and found that it seemed much more versatile, for less than what the Shark is selling for. The unit can be used to clean just about anything, while the Shark mop is strictly a floor mop. I had missed the Scunci Steamer I had, which conked out after just about a year of very light use. Very dissappointing. When it worked, it did a great job, but it was not a floor cleaner. This SF-290 is better than both the Shark and the Scunci, for my purposes, because it does everything. I have a one bedroom apartment, and it cleans everything in it just fine. My kitchen floor has never been cleaner, and there is no sticky residue or chemical smell; just clean and fresh. I can freshen the carpeting, and it even removed some stubborn stains that I could not get out, no matter how much scrubbing I'd done. I freshen the furniture as well, which is great to combat my allergies. I don't know if a unit this small would work in a large house, but for a smaller area, it works great! A tip is to turn the mop cover inside out and use it on the other side before washing it. You can also remove it, rinse it out and continue using it for a time. I ordered additional Bissell mop covers, since I figured one would not be enough. 45 of 46 people found the following review helpful. Adequate By TheLastCoyote Well, it is not all that I had hoped but it is an adequate mop and I have found a few uses for the handheld steamer part as well. I have a small kitchen and the cord is too short to do the whole floor without unplugging. If you are doing more than one floor you will need several mop heads on hand so that you can change them out, otherwise you will just be pushing dirt around your floor. I only have the kitchen floor and 3 bathrooms to do and need a minimum of 2 mop heads for it. (I recommend the Bissell steam mop replacement pads) The mop cover it comes with is extremely cheap and flimsy. Mine was tossed after the first use. If we move somewhere with more hard floors I will be purchasing a different kind of steamer for the floors. All things considered I would say it's worth about half of what it is priced at. 18 of 18 people found the following review helpful. Not perfect, but good for the price By ReadersAdvisory I didn't have high expectations for this steam cleaner. I didn't think it would be particularly powerful, but I hoped that it would be somewhat effective, and I wasn't prepared to shell out hundreds of dollars for a more powerful steam machine. So with those modest expectations as a caveat, I can say that I'm very pleased with, and a little bit surprised by, how well this thing works. On first use, it blasted away almost all of the soap scum on the bottom and sides of the bathtub. It cleaned my kitchen floor in minutes, with very little effort. It was less impressive at cleaning the bathroom grout, but it got a fair amount of that clean, too. The really stubborn stains are still there and will probably need CLR or a similar product, but in the meantime, I have a much cleaner shower without using any nasty chemicals. The most impressive thing the mop has done so far is to clean the completely uncleanable floor in the downstairs bathroom. That's where the cats' litter boxes live, and the terracotta-style tile and the dust from the cat litter just don't get along. Conventional mopping, the Swiffer WetJet, and good old-fashioned scrubbing have gotten the floor clean but still left it covered in a layer of fine dust. The Steam Fast mop cut through the dust and left the floor looking almost as good as new. It's not by any means as good as a more powerful dry-steam cleaner would have been, and it's not as sturdy as those

Most helpful customer reviews 42 of 43 people found the following review helpful. easy carpet cleaner By Jeanne E. Groenendyk which machine does one purchase? light weight? heavy duty? added heaters? which brand is best? all valid ?'s- so i researched reviews on amazon before i purchased a carpet cleaner. i own a kirby vacuum system- i love it....but the machine is heavy, and the carpet cleaner a bit more involved in putting together than an upright machine. having already spent $$ on a kirby (a g4 i purchased 13 years ago) i did not want to spend a bunch of money on a carpet cleaner- i just wanted something to "pull out and lightly clean" carpets a few times a year. this is the machine i decided on. it seems to have worked well- it is easy to manuever, easy to assemble, easy to fill clean water tank, easy to empty the dirty water tank and replace the tanks again- easy to clean up!~ how great is that? having no other upright "steam" machine to compare it to, it seems to have cleaned adequately. i took my time and allowed the suction to pick up as much water as possible. it dried within 2 hours. now, i must say, having used a kirby on this carpet, and not allowing shoes in the house, this 9 year old carpet had VERY LITTLE sand in the dirty water tank, and only gray water, compared to the walkway carpet that i also cleaned. the high traffic area had 8 times as much sand, and the water was much darker. so, the machine picks up alot. i am pleased with the overall performance of this machine. did not find any leaks- got it at a great price at [...] for 79$- very happy with this purchase. 24 of 24 people found the following review helpful. Acceptable for quick surface cleaning before guests arive...not deep cleaning By CAB To be honest, I only picked this shampooer because of the price. I have a Bissel Little Green Machine, but I needed something that would cover larger areas. I have borrowed a larger, heavier, and much more expensive one from friends, which I loved, but couldn't shell out $300. At just under $100, this lightweight little thing does cover larger areas. It does remove the little spots you get all over from drippy sippy cups and sloshy coffee mugs. It does NOT do a deep down heavy cleaning job of the carpet. With 2 small children, a cat and a puppy, I am fully aware of how gross my carpets can get. The dirty water on this machine comes out much lighter than that with a nicer/heavier duty machine, which tells me it's not pulling up as much dirt. Cleaning with this one does go faster, because it sprays less liquid, therefor you're not constantly refilling/emptying the tanks. Because it uses less liquid, it dries very quickly--within 2 hours, or an hour if you open all the windows. So basically, the SteamVac is like a larger version of the Little Green Machine. If you're looking for something less expensive that is light weight and can quickly clean the surface of your carpet so it looks good for a little bit in between professional cleanings, this is for you. If you require a heavy duty cleaner, this is not your machine. 14 of 14 people found the following review helpful. Easy to Use By D. Stoddard Bought to replace a worn out hoover spin scrub.extremely easy to use, easy to push, can be cleaned easily with one hand. No harder to use than a vacuum cleaner. Now I'm steam cleaning more and vacuuming less. Gets out traffic patterns well. About 10 lbs lighter than the spin scrub and has adequate clean water/dirty water storage in separate tanks (1 gal each). If the room is not excessively dirty it's 1 tank of cleaner and emptying the dirty water storage twice. And yes, I'm restricted to one hand because of a stroke to my right side! Hoover F5810 SteamVac Carpet Cleaner

Hoover Steamvac for carpets, and upholstry.

Clean spots and stains with ease with the Hoover F5810 SteamVac cleaner for carpets--perfect for working on tough spots like high traffic areas and pet stains. It features a powerful 7.1 amp motor that propels the dual scrub brushes that wash and wipe away spots and stains. The F5810 offers a two tank system that keeps cleaning solution and dirty water separate, and the solution tank fills easily and includes a built-in measuring cup. You'll get fingertip solution control to bring more cleaner to dirtier areas, and it has a toe-operated on/off switch. By Molly I was impressed with the way it doesn't oversaturate the carpet (unless you just keep going over the area and pressing the squirt trigger a lot.) The suction is very good and the machine is easy to operate. The water is only as hot as you get out of your faucet however, but this was not a concern for me. I almost bought a Bissell, similar price, but discovered the Bissell had an odd retriever container--it actually sits inside the clean water container, so this doesn't give much room for the dirty water. I didn't actually try out the Bissell, so I can't really criticize it. I used the Hoover for a very dirty utility room carpet and the only thing I will do different next time is use a Hoover stain remover for some of the ground in dirt stains. All in all, I found this machine to be MUCH better than ones I had rented from a local hardware store in past years (for a different house). The rental machines are extremely heavy, hard to get in and out of my car and leave the carpets soaking wet. This Hoover machine isjust what I hoped for. One thing to be aware of, after you take the machine out of the package, check to see if the cap on the clean water container is already loosened. I was following directions to a "tee" and trying like everything to turn the knob to the left to unscrew it and then discovered it was already loose and ready to be lifted out. I ordered this machine from Amazon also another item previously, and was very happy with Amazon's fast delivery time on both items. 12 of 12 people found the following review helpful. Hoover is okay so far By Sherry Lowery It seems to work just fine. I am going to be looking at it's staying power. I have worn out several carpet cleaners over the years. It's simple to operate and does a good job. It's a little heavy, which every carpet cleaner I've ever owned is, so I guess they must have to have some weight to work properly. 14 of 15 people found the following review helpful. I was attracted by the heater and turbo brush, and I read many positive reviews. It works great on carpet cleaning, however, within three uses the trigger 'jammed up.' When I took it to a Bissell repair shop (a very reputable vacumn repair shop) I was told that the cleaner burns onto the heater each time it's used, causing it to stop spraying. He recommended that it be flushed through with hot water after each use and stored without the fill/empty canisters. Otherwise, it would continue to break. He also said that the heater only adds about 10 degrees so it's a minimal benefit. He strongly encouraged me to return the model for a basic unit (1400) which is ... cheaper. He repairs all brands and encouraged me to purchase the Hoover SteamVac Jr. instead. He rairly encounters problems with their model, but sees many Bissells.I purchased one and have used it once. I really love it. It works as well as the Bissell (both clean extremely well) but is easier to operate. I no longer have to 'flush' the system each time I use it (who has time for that?). With two little ones, purchasing a portable steam cleaner is a must; Bissell and Hoover make excellent choices (but stay away from the heater units)I hope this is helpful. 147 of 151 people found the following review helpful. Great for old and new pet stains By T. Sullivan Before I got this carpet cleaner, I bought the cordless Bissell Spot Lifter. I sent the Spot Lifter back because it would work only 5 minutes before you had to recharge the battery (12 hours). Even though Little Green isn't cordless, it is small and lightweight and works incredibly well. We had old pet stains on our cream colored carpeting and since we got the Little Green, we've been able to get all of them up from the carpet. Whenever our dog creates other messes, we're able to take the cleaner out right away and clean it up without having to go through too many steps to get the Little Green ready for use. I would recommend this to anyone, especially those with pets and small children -- I don't know why I didn't get this months before -- its made a huge difference in the look of our carpet and well worth the price. 70 of 71 people found the following review helpful. Don't throw it out! By Particular Consumer As others have stated - it works well when it works. I was really happy with the way it cleaned. I especially liked the turbo brush. But when I went to use it for only the second time the sprayer wouldn't work - a frequent complaint I understand. You don't have to be particularly handy to fix it. You need a screw driver, a pair of pliers and a paper clip. Unplug the machine. Take the four screws from the top out. Pull the top up. Underneath you will see a black box with 4 screws - undo. Underneath the cover is heater box. Lift up and undo the 5 screws on the bottom. You will see what is causing the problem. You don't need to disconnect the wires. Release the clamps holding the plastic tubes with the pliers and gently remove the tubes. Use the paper clip, opened, to clean out the holes in the heater. It did not take long at all. Helms I bought this appliance at Target about three months ago, misunderstanding at the time what it was. When I got it home and unpacked it, I realized my mistake and *almost* took it back because I've owned steamers before and I just wasn't impressed. The literature accompanying the unit made me decide to go ahead and try it out before I decided and oh my gosh, am I glad I did. Using nothing but water and a towel, along with your Shark steamer, you can clean anything in your house. When we bought this house back in April of 2002, there were lime stains on the pipes behind the toilets in all three bathrooms. And there were 10 years of black gunk built up under the edges of each toilet, where they connect to the floor. No matter what I tried, I could never remove all of that gunk -- you just can't get under there to do it! -- and the lime deposits wouldn't come off even with CLR and Lime Away and similar products. I am happy to report that less than 10 minutes per bathroom was all it took to totally obliterate the lime AND the gunk. Because it's steam under pressure, it can get in spots where you can't even insert a butter knife. It just blows it all out and you wipe it away! We suffer from various allergies, and it seemed that no matter which cleaning product I used, someone's allergies were going to be aggravated -- now, I use the Shark and there's NOTHING to irritate anyone because you're not using any cleaning solvents -- just water! You can even use it with one of the wider nozzles (it doesn't show them in the photo, but the unit is packed with several different attachments, not just the floor attachment shown) and blow dust and cobwebs off window blinds, artificial flowers, knick-knacks, and so on without damaging them. I have some suede-feeling artificial flowers that even a lint remover won't take the dust off, and my Shark steamer left them looking like they were brand new. You can clean your windows, and it's great for getting underneath and around large household appliances. The grill under the refrigerator that always looks terrible? Spotless, thanks to the Shark! The nozzles and attachments help you get into places that normal cleaning just can't reach. My house has never been so clean, and although everyone assumes I've been spending hours and hours cleaning house, the truth is, I now spend about an hour per week maintaining it with my Shark! I can't say enough about this unit. I highly recommend it. 157 of 157 people found the following review helpful. Insufficient Steam Pressure but Cool Design By S. Bachman I just ordered this Ultra Steam Blaster from the manufacturer and did some testing of this model with the competing products from Saeco (the Piccolo) and SteamFast. Overall, I like the design in terms of being able to hold most of the accessories on board. The quality of the accessories is first rate. The unit heats up in 6-7 minutes and produces consistent steam. For those new to steaming, it will be a revelation and you will wonder what you did without a steamer. Since I have owned and tested 4 steamers in the past few years, including this model and two competitors in the "under $200" category, I can tell you that while I like the design and quality of accessories, (and the fact this unit uses a stainless steel tank) of this Shark product, it did not hold a candle to the Saeco in terms of raw cleaning power. See my amazon reviews of the Saeco piccolo for details. I really wanted this unit to be better since I really did like the design the best. However the moldy hose test demonstrated that this steamer does not have the power to instantly blast mold off a moldy hose like the Piccolo. Since I owned a prior model from Delonghi, I can tell you, when you go to steam, the raw temperature and steam production power/pressure is what does the cleaning and the Shark Ultra Steam

And it would be great if the unit I received lived up to the claims made for this product. But it was not to be. First of all- It states that once the unit heats up "a steam-on-demand trigger with a continuous-steam locking switch.."- therein lies the problem with at least what I received. First-it's far from a "continuous-stream of steam that is produced- it sputters, and then may have a burst of steam, then sputters again. I tested the temp of the steam during several bursts of steam- it varies- anywhere from 90 degrees to 140 degrees. Anything over 110 degrees-if remains constant while steaming- is good for killing most germs. Being that this was inconsistent- hard to believe the product description- "Using pure and natural penetrating steam, the unit removes stubborn stains, dirt, and grime from sinks and tubs; sanitizes floors; reduces smoke and other odors from drapes and upholsteries; reduces allergens such as dust mites and pet dander; and saves money on cleaning supplies--no more harsh cleaners or protective rubber gloves needed." HA! Not the unit I received. The other problem noted quick fast-is that "on-demand" trigger- it sticks- making it very tricky to shut off, considering if your one hand is being used to wipe or scrub down the area you are cleaning, you have to drop that and fumble around with this trigger to get it finally to go off. Poor design. Of the few areas that I attempted to clean-and none that really impressed me- and this is just a guess is that the problem lies with an inconsistent temp for the steam- as you really have to do a lot of scrubbing on your own to lift even the easiest of grime areas from the tub . This is not a unit that I would say would make me throw out my current, unfortunately, chemical cleaners, of which I would be so happy to do -some day. Needless to say- this product is in the process of being returned. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Great Product By Karen M. Harrington Purchased the Steam Fast to use on my 22 year old tiled kitchen floor. The grout went from cream color to a dark brown after the 22 years. No matter what I used to wash the floor, the grout just wouldn't clean up. I purchased the steam fast and used the hose with the scrubber. It took some time (not hard though), and the grout now looks like it did 22 years ago! It looks like a brand new floor. I also have a stand up steamer which is great just to wash the floors, but it wouldn't be able to clean the grout like the steam fast. My husband will be using it on the cars to clean the wheels. Carpet cleaner By Mal DeMer I bought the "commercial" unit to get larger holding tanks, since smaller units require annoyingly frequent refills and empties. The one gallon tank on this unit is sufficient for an average sized room. The dirty water tank is also adequate. The unit is simple enough to assemble, and works well. The tanks go on and off easily. There is no doubt that carpets look much better after cleaning, and of course the dirty water attests to the fact that a lot of soil has been removed. I personally recommend a rinse after cleaning with the detergent-containing water. To do this one must empty the cleaning solution from the tank and replace it with water only. This is not inconvenient, and is actually better than those systems that enable detergent on-and-off, since it is simpler and therefore less prone to failure. On the negative side, I was surprised that the unit did not include an upholstery accessory, especially since the instructions for that are included. Also, it has fittings to accommodate the accessory. I spoke to the Shoplet representative about this, and after some discussion they agreed to send a new unit, from which I could remove the missing parts and return the rest. The new box arrived promptly, but also contained no upholstery accessory. It appears that for some unknown reason Hoover is shipping these out without the accessory, although it had been sold as a "carpet and upholstery cleaner" on Amazon. From the Shoplet representative I learn that Hoover says it is a carpet cleaner only, despite the aforementioned instructions, pictures, and fittings that are in the box and on the machine. You figure that one out. Shoplet gave me a partial refund, and that is the end of that. If you want an upholstery cleaner, look elsewhere besides this Hoover machine. As another negative point, there is a clip on the cleaner handle to help hold the wire off the floor, but it is almost impossible to get the wire in it, and when you do it will pop out the first time you step on the wire. I solved this with a piece of duct tape to hold the wire more securely. I haven't had the unit long enough to comment on its durability. 21 of 29 people found the following review helpful. "Oh, that's just the name" By Shay Lynn I bought this from Sears, which was my first mistake. When we got it assembled, I followed the instructions on filling it with hot tap water and waited ten minutes. When I began using it, what came out of the machine was colder than the tap water I put in. I called the Hoover customer care number to ask how you make actual steam come out of the SteamVac and was told (and I quote) "Oh, that's just the name." Sears, in its ongoing campaign to gouge as much money out of the buying public as it can before going bankrupt, charged me a $30 restocking fee because I had already opened the box. When I asked how else a customer is supposed to know that the SteamVac Carpet Cleaner neither steams nor cleans, the conversation ended. 4 of 8 people found the following review helpful. Rizzo I have tried 2 other steam cleaners, the Bissel Heat pro and the Hoover (not sure which one). Of the three, the oreck has the best suction. Since it pulls up more water, the floors dry more quickly. As far as getting the floor cleaner, they are pretty close in performance but the Oreck comes out a little ahead. The best part of the oreck to me is that it is the easiest to fill with water and the easiest and cleanest to empty. It is all in one tank that is quick and easy to remove. I find I clean the floors more frequently because it is so quick and easy to use. Also, I didn't like being stuck with using Orecks cleaning liquid. There is a very easy way around that. Set the unit to RINSE mode and add the detergent directly to the clean water. That way you bypass using the Oreck brand cleaner in the little bottles. I have been using Resolve carpet cleaning soap with excellent results. It is cheaper that way and cleans just as good as the Oreck detergent. I would definitely recommend the Oreck steam cleaner. 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. *A very good cleaner By *Elephant* *It works well on a heavily soiled carpet, but of course is best when used routinely as with most cleaners. It is a pain if you break the latch. If there were a better method of holding the tank in place this would be perfect. I also broke the ALCI plug by stepping on it when I backed up; also an inconvenient feature because now the cleaner is unusable. Hopefully Oreck can assist me with fixing it without charging an arm, and leg. Wish me luck... 3 of 7 people found the following review helpful. Save Your Money By M. Nunn This floor cleaner does not live up to the Oreck name. We were luckily given this as a gift, but the giver paid much more money for this particular model than the typical 150 dollars at a box store for a model that works JUST as well, and that you don't have to buy super special cleaning fluid for. I have a large inside dog, 3 children who play outside occasionally, and a husband that wears combat boots. I expect a floor cleaner used twice a month to clean up after them in a couple of swathes, not to spend 20 min on the same 10 sq ft patch of floor before it's cleaned. And I'm not any kind of a neat freak. The piece that sprays the floor comes loose all the time, I'm constantly having to push it back in so it's tight and sprays not streams. It doesn't have a wide cleaning area, and it doesn't deep clean like advertised. I'd spend your money elsewhere, I'm so thankful that this was a gift. I was super excited to receive this Oreck, knowing the mythos behind the name. And I have to say. I'm really not impressed. See all 3 customer reviews...

I just got it yesterday and I put it together and had it going within minutes. I vacuumed my whole house (2500 square feet) in 15 minutes. It's lightweight and the suction is awesome. I also used it on my furniture to get pet hair and it worked awesome. I am a cleaning lady and I can't wait to use it on Monday at my first client's house! The 50 foot cord is great because you just plug into the middle of your house and you never have to unplug, just keep going until it's done. It even works on plush carpet as it's a hard plastic, it just runs over it sucking all the dirt up! Downside: it doesn't have a horsetail brush for wood floors as to not scratch them. Hoover MaxExtract 60 PressurePro Carpet Deep Cleaner, FH50220 By Don After adopting two basset hounds, I decided to invest in a carpet cleaner of some sort. I spent a couple of days reviewing products in the [...] range. I spent a good bit of time at Target, Walmart, Lowes and Home Depot literally taking various floor models apart and putting them back together to inspect their quality and ease of use. I learned that more people were satisfied with Hoover products than Bissell. I could see how the little spinning brushes on Hoover products should clean more thoroughly than Bissell's one long beater brush. Reviews seem to bear this out, but it's close! I narrowed my choices down to the Hoover All Terrain Steam Vac Hoover SteamVac Carpet Cleaner, All-Terrain, F7452900 or the Bissell ProHeat 2X Home Bissell ProHeat 2X Healthy Home Upright Deep Cleaner, 66Q4. The Bissell appeared a better built product, but I didn't really like the bar brush or the odd bladder style tank-in-a-tank. That's when I just happened to stop by a Target store and found this machine, Hoover MaxExtract 60 PressurePro Carpet Deep Cleaner, FH50220. It has the little brushes I like and the quality is FAR SUPERIOR to the Hoovers in the "Steam Vac" series. (I just can't believe how flimsy they are.) The Hoover Max Extract is a much more solid machine than any of the Bissells I looked at. I used it for the first time today and cleaned the entire house. Very nice! I would have to say that the Hoover Max Extract 60 does every bit of a good job as any professional cleaning I've had. Matter of fact, it did a better job than the last professional as he seemed in a hurry. The carpets took about 2 hours to dry. The real surprise comes when you vacuum the carpet after it has dried. Wow, my eight year old, dog worn carpet looks new again! For the record, I used about 64 oz.of Hoover Pet detergent Hoover 40321130 Premium Pet Formula Carpet/Upholstery Detergent, 128-Ounce over about 1500 sq. ft. of carpet. The trick, it seems, is to go slow and make sure all of the dirty water is sucked up. It did a great job of the water extraction. The worst areas (where the dogs lie) I simply used a little extra spray and let the little brushes do the work. Cleaning the machine is fairly easy and straight forward. It took me about 30 minutes to clean the machine and get it ready for next time. The only problem I had with it (reason for 4 stars, not 5) was that the brushes did not spin the very first time I used them. I simply reached down and loosened them up by popping them out as if to clean them. They worked flawlessly after that! I am very pleased with the quality and sturdiness of the Max Extract 60 and thrilled with the way it cleaned my carpets. I would highly recommend it to a friend. 167 of 178 people found the following review helpful. New dust filter By Walter Great vacuum, works well. Replacement parts are expensive though. The other day I called to order a new dust filter and got a call back saying the deluxe package cost $125,000. 27 of 28 people found the following review helpful. Fantastic Carpet Cleaner By Indiver716 I purchased this carpet cleaner at Target after reading many on-line reviews of many different carpet cleaners. I gathered from all the reviews that carpet cleaners in general seemed to break after a few years if not a few months. I got the impression, however, that Hoover carpet cleaners seemed to be less problematic in general than Bissell carpet cleaners. I therefore strongly advised that my wife purchase a Hoover carpet cleaner rather than a Bissell carpet cleaner, even though she much preferred the style/design of the Bissells (Hoover could take some pointers from Bissell in the styling area). I advised the purchase of another Hoover carpet cleaner, but it was not in the store and I liked the description of the features on this one, even though there were zero reviews on

Looking for one of those right now! 0 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Great commercial vacuum By Jeffrey Blake We use this Oreck at our fitness center. 166 of 177 people found the following review helpful.

Amazon.com Review With extended suction power for spotless carpets, Bissell offers their Lift-Off Revolution Deluxe bagless vacuum for household cleaning needs. The upright 12-amp vacuum offers turbo power and seven height levels to accommodate a wide variety of floor and carpet types, while eradicating both deeply embedded debris and light layers of dust. With a long-lasting HEPA filter, the vacuum also improves an environment's air quality, stripping away dust mites, ragweed, and most grass pollen. The vacuum further endears itself to users with its detachable body, leaving the upright frame behind for the more portable canister format that better suits cleaning stairs and other elevated terrains. To ensure a clean carpet, the 15-inch wide vacuum head features a helpful headlight to illuminate soiled patches. Using Bissell's new Revolution System, the vacuum sucks dirt and debris from even the plushest carpet for heavy-duty cleaning. Debris travels through a HEPA media filter into a sealed dust cup. An indicator light alerts users of the need to change the filter and one extra filter set accompanies the vacuum. The dust cup detaches from the vacuum body for easy emptying. The cleaner comes equipped with a special TurboBrush to conquer pet hair and vertical stair cleaning. Rotating brush power can be obtained by flipping a switch. Additional attachments include a telescopic extension wand, dusting/upholstery combo tool, bare floor tool, crevice tool, and an extra-reach hose. A shoulder strap also allows simple transport of the cleaner when used in canister mode. The power cord spans 35 feet in distance. For the best results, the HEPA filter should be replaced every three years and should never be washed. Bissell offers a one-year warranty for this item. The vacuum measures 15 by 13-3/4 by 44 inches and weighs 29.3 pounds upon shipping. --Jessica Reuling

Most helpful customer reviews 12 of 12 people found the following review helpful. Great Vacuum! Wonderful Features! By My two girls Mom This vacuum is great! We have stairs and the "lift-off" feature makes it so much easier to vacuum them. The turbo brush attachment is great for small spots in between furniture, so I don't end up moving furniture every time I vacuum. (This attachment is also what I use to clean the stairs.) I love that it has an extra set of filters so that when one set of filters is dirty and is cleaned and air-drying I can still use the vacuum because of the extra filter set. This vacuum sucks up the dirt really well. The feature to turn off the brush makes vacuuming my kitchen and bathrooms so much easier (my old vacuum didn't have this feature and the brush would just kick the bigger debris around the floor instead of picking them up). The dusting tool is great... I have a lampshade that I could never get all the dust out of the crevices, but once I attached the dusting tool the powerful suction sucked all the dust and now my lampshade is finally dust free! This really is a great vacuum and I would definately recommend the DELUXE version of this vacuum because the attachments are well worth the extra expense. The vacuum is a little heavy, but when compared with my old one it's not that much heavier than an average vacuum. The only complaint is that the hose is so stiffly coiled (wire or some sturdy material in the coils) that when I was vacuuming something with the hose attachement I pulled the hose and it being stiff it knocked over the vacuum which fell and cracked off a piece of the hose holder. Just be aware of the stiff hose. Other than that it's great and I'd definately buy it again. I couldn't find this model in any stores yet, so with Amazon's free shipping (which was the promo at the time I bought mine) it was well worth purchasing from Amazon. 9 of 9 people found the following review helpful. Impressive and easy to carry By BodieOne I needed an upright I could carry up and down stairs without further damaging my bad shoulder, and I didn't want to sacrifice suction. I've been nothing but impressed with what this vacuum picks up, and I can pick it up. I take the detachable cannister upstairs while vacuuming the stairs and then run down for the light-weight upright housing when I need it. Emptying the large dirt collection container is easy and it's rewarding to know how much cleaner the house must be after what's been thrown away. The filters are easy to clean. I highly recommend the "deluxe" version which comes with a second set of filters to pop in while the first is drying. Also, the bare floor tool really does do edges well. Down side, the hose and wand could be a little longer. I'd buy it again, though, I'm very happy with my decision. 9 of 9 people found the following review helpful. good vacuum but terrible turbo brush By PA Mom We've had this vacuum for about a year now. We got it because of my daughter's allergies and we wanted one with a HEPA filter. (We have a dog and a cat - and lots of pet hair getting trapped in our carpets.) As soon as we brought it home, I decided to "test" it. I vacuumed my whole house with our old vacuum (which does a pretty good job.) Then I vacuumed with this one. I was amazed at how much dirt and pet hair it picked up! I had to empty the canister twice before finishing my house (2400 square feet). After a couple weeks (if that) my turbo brush stopped spinning. It didn't do a good job before then so I figured it was defective anyway. I called Bissell and they didn't seem surprised. They sent a new one free of charge. The new one was spinning, but still the suction was terrible. It didn't pick up anything. We just don't bother using it at all. It is a heavy vacuum, but it glides nicely. Carrying it upstairs takes a bit of effort, but the handle is placed in a good spot so I don't mind that. I like that it's bagless, because with the pet hair we fill up

Most helpful customer reviews 9 of 9 people found the following review helpful. okay, but could be better By rachel caesar this DOESN'T vacuum edges well, and the vacuum is shrill. so if you have any sort of edges (around table or sofa legs for example), you will still have to sweep on a regular basis; it's not as thorough as a broom can be. if you have a lot of pet hair (or long hair that finds its way all over the house), this might be preferable to a broom. the steam mop works equally well. it seems that my dry messes are somehow concentrated around the edges of my rooms, while my sticky, wet messes are in open floor. again, the shark still doesn't do edges well, but i prefer the steam mop to a regular mop. though the shark is lightweight enough to easily lift with one hand, mopping can be a little slow-going because of the friction the pad meets with the floor. you must move slowly over the floor in order for it to clean well. all in all, i think it does what's advertised, but if i could do it again, i would stick with a broom and buy a steam mop, especially if the steam mop came with a steaming wand. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Loved it By Amii I have been wanting one for a while, my sister in law said it is the only thing that can get hair spray off her bathroom floor- which it does. Other reviews I read said it isn't great for everyday cleaning because you can't get the corners great, but I use it everyday anyway. So that may only be true if you have super bad OCD, then you may have to pull out the broom. But if there is something along the baseboards that I want or in a corner I use my broom to sweep it into the path of the shark. I love my shark! See all 2 customer reviews...

Finally, Finally Found A Product That Cleans My Blinds By D. Leonard I've been searching for years for a product that will clean the window blinds in my home. This is the answer to my prayers. I put the steam nozzle close enough to just dampen the blinds and then used a rag to wipe the dust off. (I'm ashamed to admit this) but I had years of dust accumulated and it cleaned it in a matter of seconds. I'm looking forward to using it to clean my trash can, sinks and elsewhere in my home. No problem with the steam running out too soon. Highly recommend. See all 3 customer reviews...

By Trinell Hartranft I saw an infomercial for this product one night and thought I would give it a try. I was interested in this product for several reasons: 1) my entire home has wood and hard flooring, 2) I'd love not using additional chemicals and cleaners, 3) I'd love to not be using a mop and scummy bucket, and 4) the re-washable pad looked wonderful. I got my mop this week and I am so happy with this product. It does what it claims to do. It heats up quickly, my floors dry quickly, and the pad washes well in the washer. The pad is extremely durable and well made. I put it in the washer with some detergent and it cleaned up pretty well. The actual design of this mop far surpasses the chintzy design of the other popular steam mops available. I noticed right away that it's very sturdy. The handle is telescopic and is easily adjustable. I've used it on all my floors and small area rugs. It did a marvelous job and even lifted the dirt from my area rug. This is one of the best appliance purchases that I have made in awhile and I recommend it everyone. 16 of 17 people found the following review helpful. Great product! By S. Burns I just received this product and love it. I have back problems and this is so lightweight and easy to use. It does a wonderful job, the pads are extremely well made and no more cleaners or refill pads to buy! The only suggestion I would have is to order extra pads and change as soon as they get fairly wet, as it works better with a drier pad. Really does what it says it will! By mom2boyz A couple of weeks ago, I hesitantly purchased (directly from Amazon) the Euro-Pro Shark Steam Pocket Mop ... but I am SO glad I did. I LOVE this steam mop. I have TILE and WOOD floors throughout my house and they have been nearly impossible to keep clean (as evidenced by my kids' no-so-white sock bottoms). Anyway, I had been researching all of the various steam mops trying to find that "perfect" mop that would work miracles. I thought I had decided on one, but then (while flipping channels) saw the infomercial for this mop. It appeared to be EXACTLY what I was looking for. As with most infomercials, I was VERY skeptical that the product would REALLY do what it claimed to do. Luckily, I took the leap of faith, and purchased one from Amazon.com. I could not be happier with this mop. It REALLY does STEAM (alot) and get all of the gross built up dirt and grime off the floors. I HATE cleaning floors! I'm more of a carpet person, so for me to say I love this product is absolutely amazing. I had a Hoover FloorMate (which I purchased 7 years ago), but it was ALOT of effort to clean up AFTER ... and it only had the brush scrubbers (so it didn't really WIPE the floors clean) AND it required the special Hoover cleaner (which I ruined mine by using Pine Sol ... which it specifically says not to use). Then I moved to the cheaper (although, not really after you buy all of the disposable pads and cleaner) Swiffer Wet Jet. It was ok for the quick clean-ups, IF my floor was already pretty much clean to begin with. But the Swiffer Wet Jet never CLEANED my floors. It was EXTREMELY frustrating to spend time and money cleaning and then STILL see the dirty sock bottoms (which meant the floors weren't really clean). PLEASE NOTE: There are TWO (2) versions of the NEWER MODEL steam mop ... the PURPLE version has 2 heads (rectangle and triangle) with 5 PADS (2 rectangle, 2 triangle, 1 purple duster) and the SILVER/metallic version has 3 heads (XL rectangle, rectangle and triange) and 4 PADS (1 XL rectangle, 1 rectangle, 1 triangle, 1 purple duster). Both have the carpet glider. The XL kit, as well as extra PADS can all be purchased separately. I bought mine at Newegg. The things I like about the Euro Pro Shark Steam Pocket Mop are ... 1. It has a LONG 30ft. cord so you are not constantly plugging and unplugging, 2. It has sturdy/thick microfiber machine washable/reusable TWO-SIDED pads (all of the stains don't come out, but they have held up VERY well to repeated washings), 3. It has a LARGE water tank, so you are not constantly re-filling the tank, 4. It has a SWIVEL head (3 different HEAD sizes/shapes) that FLIPS for two-sided cleaning, 5. It really STEAMS while cleaning and gets off the built on dirt, 6. It cleans WITHOUT any chemicals ... only tap water (I prefer using hot water), 7. It HEATS up quickly (under a minute ... although I usually let it heat for 5 minutes). Things you should know ... 1. As with mopping, you need to vacuum or sweep BEFORE steam mopping (do this WHILE the mop is heating up). 2. Filling with hot water worked best for me. 3. PUMP/prime the mop about 10 times before you start mopping (this gets the STEAM really going). 4. Make sure you have AT LEAST 2 pads (4-sides of cleaning), especially if your floors are dirty. 5. Do NOT keep using the same pad side once it is dirty (so, check the bottom as you go) or your floors will not be cleaned and look streaky when they dry. 6. I don't *think* this mop actually gets hot enough to really sanitize (I'm not sure if any of them do), but I spray/squirt some vinegar on the floor as I go and mop over that and it seems to work. 7. The steam mop is made of hard plastic, so I'm not sure how well the handle itself is going to last over time with repeated pumpings, etc. I've noticed several reviewers commenting on a broken handle. I would say
