I just got mine and I too thought I was loving the feeling of NOT ironing. I had had other hand held cheaper steams so I knew it wouldn't equal an iron but I didn't expect to stand in a lake of water and have steam for only 3 minutes. I thought mine was just defective but now that I read the other person's only steamed for a few minutes perhaps this IS the design. ewww What was more shocking is after adding water time after time after time when I started to disassembled it to return it IT WAS FULL OF MORE THAN ONE CUP OF WATER! And that means it does not know when it needs water and it leaks. Two issues. If not for them I tell you the accessories are the thing. The mitt truly protects your hand from high heat. Heck I'd use it with a regular iron. The lint attachment works well. The hose was surprise. IT IS LIKE VELVET. Truly nice to hold. Steam head is nice and large. But that's all I got to enjoy because by time I covered shoulder to waist on a long coat (front only) I realized I had a floor full of water and I was done! I'll let you know if an exchange is any better. I'm beginning to think it won't help either. Can anyone tell me of one that is a lot better than this? 5 of 6 people found the following review helpful. NOT worth it!!! By AvidReader I was so excited at the prospect of no longer having to iron - so thought I'd invest in a quality steamer...unfortunately this one SUCKS! MAYBE 5 mins of steam- because you need to stop and refill the water tank every few minutes - way less than the 20 they stated....and still tons of wrinkles...and takes too long -twisting and turning to get the wrinkles out - easier to do the old fashion iron and board....bahhhh humbug! what a disappointment:=( 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Steamer causes your mood to steam more By Ted This item is mis-advertised. Quite often, it spits out water instead of steam. The advertisement says it will steam for twenty minutes before refilling the container. Five minutes of steam time is all you get. It takes longer to attach garment, adjust hooks and clips than it would to steam iron by hand the conventional way. I would not recommend this item. Ted See all 4 customer reviews...

VIDEO REVIEW **Big Green vs. SteamVac** By Noname Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R2R5A7ME53LBRR Considering this Big Green is supposed to be a professional grade carpet cleaner, I expected it to be better than my trusty old Hoover SteamVac Carpet Cleaner with Clean Surge, F5914-900. The question really is whether or not the Big Green cleans so much better that it's worth the price. I tested it on an old carpet remnant we've had sitting out in the garage for more than ten years. It has never been vacuumed nor steam cleaned until today. On the left of the screen is my new Big Green. The center is preserved for the "before" comparison. The right is my SteamVac. As you can see, there is an obvious difference in cleaning capabilities. I actually gave my SteamVac an extra whirl because it looked so dirty, but it still looks dirty compared to the Big Green side. It's hard to tell from the video, but the dark color you see from the SteamVac side is not wetness. The darkness is actually a more muddied appearance, as if the SteamVac had added water to dirt. I've owned quite a few carpet cleaners and I can say, this Big Green really is the best. Not just because it cleans carpets better. There are many other advantages: 1) The power cord is extra long. I can reach all up and down my long hallway in one stretch. My SteamVac requires me to plug and unplug. 2) The solution tank is extra large. It requires two capfuls of solution, but that will last a long time before needing to be refilled. 3) The collection tank is likewise huge. 4) The hose is long, with a wide head and good suction. It reaches almost up to the first landing of the stairway in my house. 5) Quick drying time. Of course, there are a few drawbacks: 1) Even with the large solution and collection tanks empty, this thing is *heavy*. It requires me to push and pull with both hands -- a real workout. If you have a bad back, this may not be for you. Also, I'm not keen on carrying this upstairs. 2) There is no convenient storage for the hose. SUMMARY AND OTHER THOUGHTS I like my SteamVac. Until now, it was my favorite carpet cleaner, but it's no match for the Big Green. I love Big Green. It's the best carpet cleaner I've ever had. My husband even noticed the cleaner carpets, and he's not one who'd normally care. If you really want clean carpets, buy this one. P.S. If you're like me and just take the things out without checking all, there is a bottle of solution and some cardboard inside the collection tank. I cleaned my entire hallway and didn't know until I went to empty the tank. D'oh! No harm done, though. 33 of 34 people found the following review helpful. "My new favorite toy!" By CodeMaster Talon So declares my Dad about this Bissell carpet cleaner. It is so rare for an appliance to be beautifully designed and work perfectly that I hardly know what to think about the results I got with this machine. My home is the ultimate test for a carpet cleaner: A lot people live here, the weather is rainy, conditions extremely muddy, and nature comes up right to our door. Before using this machine, we've had our carpets cleaned twice at this location and innumerable times before that and at other residences, all with uninspiring success. Commercial carpet cleaners can take days to thoroughly dry out, leave strong chemical smells behind them (or the pungent odor of wet animal hair), are cumbersome and noisy, and clean up is a chore. How did the Bissel stack up? SET UP A breeze. The instructions are clear and the machine itself so well designed I feel confident anyone could figure this out. The cleaning solution is supplied and for our mid-sized apartment we used approximately half the bottle. The machine is light (comparatively), easy to push around (actually kind of fun), and put together in an almost lego-like fashion, using compartments that lock and unlock with gratifying simplicity. While this Bissell carpet cleaner couldn't remove years of wear, it did remove a surprising volume of dirt. At first, I didn't think it was really doing all that much. But once I emptied out the tank, my God, what a filthy carpet I was walking on! The used water was a very dark gray bordering on black. Yuck! There's a handy little spinning wheel icon on the base of the unit (aka the flow gauge) that tells you if everything's going according to plan, or if you need to change the water, add cleaning fluid or some other issue. If it's spinning, you're in good shape. When it stops, you need to fill or empty the tank(s). The cleaner has 4 different "custom clean" settings. I mostly used the "normal clean" setting and then switched to "heavy traffic" for the dirtiest regions. The "Dry Aire" feature sends hot air to your carpet to aid in drying. As I write this, my living room is somewhat humid and the floor is damp. I don't think it will take long to dry though. A small bottle of Bissell cleaning solution is included. Do yourself a favor and buy a larger bottle before this item arrives. You'll go through it pretty quickly, so probably best to buy a decent sized refill in advance of delivery. Otherwise, you are flat-out going to run out of cleaning fluid before the job is done. So what's not to like? Well, it's somewhat heavy and bulky. For someone small and weaker, it might be a bit hard to move around. Obviously, it rolls on the carpet fine, so that's not an issue. But it's a big unit and you probably need at least a little bit of muscle (but not too much) to use it properly. The tank filled with water might be a bit heavy for some as well. You carry it like a bucket, but toting around a bucket full of water and bending down to insert and remove the tank isn't a simple thing for someone without a moderate amount of strength. Assembly was quite easy. You put the top half into the bottom half and secure it with 3 Phillips screws. Nothing too tricky there. The tool rack requires a touch more attention. The illustration was not as clear as I would have liked and it took a bit of head scratching to figure out where a couple of tools sit on the rack. You'll figure it out, but again the illustration could be clearer. While the top of the hose rack secures with a screw, the bottom does not. I noticed that one other reviewer said that the bottom of the rack (no screw to secure it) would not stay in place. I initially had the same problem. However, I looked at that bottom rack a bit closer and there's a tab that needs to snap in place and if you don't do it just right, it will keep falling off. Play with it and you'll see what I mean. If that bottom hose rack is popping off, you probably haven't installed it correctly. It's not hard, but you need to slide the lower hose rack piece in just right so that it clicks and locks into place. It's not just gravity that's holding it in place, but that's what you'll think if you don't do it right. The only other problems I had was that my knee and/or the cord kept knocking the hose off of the hose rack and onto the floor. I'm no engineer, but I think it could somehow be secured a bit better. Once, I knocked the hose off and then put it back on the rack. However, the head's trigger was pushed on the stain brush, which I didn't notice. By the time I discovered that the button was pushed, my leg was very wet and the brush had soaked my wallet and remote control. Fortunately, they are fine, but keep an eye on that so you don't spray cleaning fluid where you don't want it. Also, the coiled power cord rests right next to the coiled hose and they interfere with each other. I can't help but think that they could have designed this a bit better. I went back and forth as to whether to give this unit 4 or 5 stars. If you

I bought it about 6 years ago and after attempting to clean the rugs last month I realized it was no longer picking up the water. Opened it up and saw that the internal suction hose had split in half. That was it .. time to find another cleaner. I have had good luck with Hoovers but did a TON of research before settling on this machine. I have a dog and a toddler and both do a number on my rugs. Juice, food, crayons, spit up, urine and everything else under the sun has ended up on my carpet in the past 2 years. I did not take care of my previous Hoover so it wasn't the best in its later life. I just brought the new one home and oh my god, the water was black. I did not think anything could bring my carpets back but this did. They are so soft and clean. I love this machine because it has a rinse button if you want to make sure you have gotten all the soap out. I use really warm water and the machine directs hot air onto the carpet as you make your passes. The carpet dried super fast and just looks fantastic. I had to fill and empty the containers 4 times for my combination living / dining room but hey, I'm not complaining now that I see the results. I also like this machine because you do not mix the detergent in with the water. This is great because if you have detergent left over you just pour it back into the bottle. Based on my previous experience, here is what I learned and can pass on to future Hoover SteamVac owners: 1. Clean your machine after each use. That means taking apart the brushes and washing out the front nozzle. This is an investment and if you want it to continue working like it did the first day, you need to take care of it. 2. Do not leave left over or dirty water in the tank when you put it away. This will wear away at the joints and increases the chances the leaks. 3. Do not leave left over detergent in the tank .. see #2. 4. Read the directions when you put it together and make sure you read how to use this rather than just take it out and turn it on. I never read the first manual and didn't realize I should have been cleaning and using the spray button a totally different way. This is a great machine and I hope it will last just as if not longer now that I know how to take care of and use it properly. 125 of 125 people found the following review helpful. Best carpet cleaner I've ever used By cat person I just got this carpet cleaner from Amazon.com and I am so happy with it. It outcleans everything I've ever used before, including professional cleaning companies. I owned a Kirby years ago and it can't hold a candle to this Hoover cleaner. I found it was much easier to use than the rug doctor, which I've rented many times, and since I own it, I don't have to haul it back to the store and I have all the time I want to clean my carpets. It was very easy to use, and I particularly like the clean water rinse feature. It gets all the detergent residue out, and my carpet was soft and lofty after cleaning. Just think, you wouldn't wear your clothes washed and not rinsed. The power is awesome, my carpet was practically dry when I finished. I got back very close to the amount of water that was dispensed. My carpet was dry enough to walk on in an hour and vacuum in 2 hours. This machine is so well made that I look forward to having soft clean carpet for years to come. It has the quality that I expected from a Hoover. I researched all brands of cleaners dilligently on the net and even looked at some brands, including Bissell, in a store before I decided on this particular Hoover machine. I've never been so happy while cleaning my carpets before. I had it out of the box and ready to go in minutes. It's as easy to use as a vacuum cleaner, plus, Amazon's sale price was cheaper than any price for the same machine that I found. I am a happy camper with

If you
