Carpet Express C4 Remanufactured Carpet Steam Cleaner Like Rug Doctor
his Rug Doctor Style Carpet Cleaner is a 'steam' carpet extractor for cleaning carpet, upholstery, vehicle, RV & boat interiors, plus more. This machine does NOT have a heater. It uses HOT tap water. This machine is made in the USA by Carpet Express® whose principal owner co-founded the Rug Doctor® in 1973. The 33 years of industry experience is evident in the design, quality & dependability that you will notice with this machine. Our Experience with the Carpet Express C4 Low Moisture Machine! When we put this machine out in our rental stores, our customers preferred this low moisture machine over the other brands of carpet cleaners we offered. Some of our stores even requested that we pick the others up! User Serviceable Components The user serviceable components (Pump, Vacuum, Brush Motor), should you need to repair anything after the warranty, are easily accessible from your local vacuum supply store. If not, we are always willing to provide you with reasonably priced replacement items. Should you take a look "under the hood", the first thing you will notice is all the major components are in one convenient location. This puts the vacuum and solution pump, very close to the working area. Powerful Components in better location than the other guys... The main difference in this Carpet Express C4 a Rug Doctor Style Machine, is the vacuum motor location. It is in the bottom of the unit, close to the suction pick-up opening in the front. In some others, it is in the top, alot further from the suction opening, reducing the efficency of the vacuum motor. Therefore, more solution is recovered resulting in a drier fabric with less residue left in the carpet (which encourages faster resoiling). Low Moisture System just works better! Because the low moisture system dispenses less solution to begin with & the vacuum extracts more of that solution ----- you benefit from a carpet that dries sooner & contains less detergent residue, so it stays cleaner, longer.

I had recently rented the Rug Doctor machine and am not sure which one cleans better. The Carpet Express I am quite sure has better suction. After going over an area 3 times it didn't feel any wetter than after the first time. Rug Doctor strongly recommends not going over an area more than twice. I did and the carpet got too wet.CE seems easier to handle that the RD. Pushing it around was less a problem than the RD. It has a rotary brush an opposed to the shaking or vibrating brush on RD. Not sure which brush style cleans better though. Carpet Express seems to remove dirt as well as the Rug Doctor but sucks up more moisture than RD leaving carpets drier. One negative thing, the CE instructions direct you to use the container that collects dirty water to also mix clean water and carpet cleaning detergent. That's like mopping the bathroom floor with a cleaning solution that's in the toilet stool. Not a good idea. Just use a clean bucket. The ideal may be to clean with Rug Doctor and suck up left over moisture with a Carpet Express. Not sure but I am leaning toward the CE as being better than the RD.I have used pro carpet cleaners and don't think they do a better job than renting a RD or CE. If you have the time and don't mind breaking a sweat by all means do it yourself.(Following reviews from another website)Carpet ExpressPros:* Extracted nearly all of the water we put into the carpet swatches.* Best suited for carpets that are exposed to moderate traffic.Cons:* Cleaner may not remove very heavy soils.* Testers said the cleaner was bulky and heavy to push.* The handle isn't height-adjustable; several of our taller testers had to lean forward while using this cleaner. (The one I rented had an adjustable handle like RD)* The unit cleans and extracts the carpet only on the backward stroke, making it difficult to maneuver around a room.* Some controls may not be intuitive, and you may have to ask a sales associate for a complete instruction manual.* Upholstery attachment tools can be used with this cleaner; but they weren't included with the rental. (I rented from Home Depot and attachment tools came free, RugDoctor at Lowes was an extra $3)Rug Doctor Mighty ProPros:* Picked up a significant amount of dirt in Institute tests and should work well on high-traffic areas.* Extracted almost half of the water we put into the carpets.* Controls are easy to understand and use.* Manual is complete and accurate.Cons:* The machine cleans and extracts only on the backward stroke, making it more difficult to maneuver around a room.* Can be heavy to push when filled with water.* The handle moves forward and backward, but doesn't extend up or down; several of our taller testers had to lean forward while using this cleaner.* Solution and water must be mixed in a separate bucket and poured into the tank, which can be messy. 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Much too loud!!! By R. Ieronimo I have rented Rug Doctor to clean my carpeting in the past and tried this Carpet Express unit from Home Depot today. The price was only twenty dollars for four hours. The unit I rented was brand new. It isn't too heavy and simple to use. It extracted a lot of dirt from my carpet. The problem was that it was unacceptably loud. They should provide a pair of quality ear plugs with this unit! I much prefer the Rug Doctor. See all 2 customer reviews...
