Equipped with a 6-1/4 amp motor, this fast-drying carpet cleaner makes cleaning carpets as easy as vacuuming. The unit's TLR PowerRoller floor brush not only lifts, traps, and removes dirt and debris from carpets and area rugs, but it also absorbs the majority of the cleaning spray from the machine for fast drying in less than 30 minutes. Plus, area rugs can be cleaned where they lay because the cleaning solution won't soak through. Choose between floor cleaning or cleaning with tools by turning the Ready Tools dial. The “tools” setting allows for above-floor cleaning of upholstery, stairs, creases along baseboards, and hard-to-reach areas. Simply choose the appropriate tool for the job, attach it to the flexible ready-to-use 8-foot hose, and it's ready to go. Tools include a tough-stain tool and an OxyGen2 PowerTool, both made from 100-percent post-consumer recycled materials. The OxyGen2 PowerTool, in combination with OxyGen2 multi-purpose formula, works as an advanced stain-fighting tool for removing tough stains such as coffee, juice, cola, and red wine. Other details include a 1/2-gallon clean-water/solution tank, a carry handle, large easy-to-maneuver wheels, and a 25-foot power cord with Quick Release cord wrap. A 16-ounce bottle of Fiber Cleansing Formula and a trial-size container of OxyGen2 are included, and the TLR PowerRoller can be washed or replaced as needed. The carpet cleaner measures approximately 18 by 12 by 43-1/2 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty. From the Manufacturer What Is Carpet Cleaning and Why Is It Worthwhile? Carpet cleaning is a process that loosens and removes most harmful dirt and ground-in grit, which may be deep down in your rugs and carpets. The PROdry is a home cleaning system that uses a combination of hot tap water, Bissell advanced deep cleaning formulas, the TLR PowerRoller, and suction to safely and effectively clean carpets and area rugs. I have their HealthyHome upright vac and absolutely love it. Also have their SpotBot (for spot carpet cleaning) and their FlipIt (for hard floor cleaning) and put both to use regularly (when you have multiple cats, you need lots of cleaning equipment!). So I was expecting another home run from the ProDry.Big disappointment! While it has some merits, the bottom line is that it is not nearly as effective as a traditional carpet cleaner. The unit assembles easily. Just four screws and you're good to go. You fill the clean water tank (located in the rear) with hot water and cleaning fluid, just like a conventional carpet cleaner. The dirty water tank is the front. What's different about the ProDry is the roller bar.Rather than spray water on the carpet and then suck it back up, the ProDry wets a roller bar that, in turn, rubs on the carpet and (in theory) cleans it. The roller bar looks just like a long nap paint roller (e.g., the type you would use to paint a textured wall). The benefit of this approach is that the carpet is not soaked with cleaning fluid, thus cutting down on the dry time. Also, it's good for area rugs, since the cleaning fluid won't soak into the carpet and damage the floor below. That all sounds good, but the be-all and end-all of a carpet cleaner is whether it actually cleans the carpet. The ProDry did a very poor job on a thick pile carpet (a 10 by 15 area rug). While it was barely damp when I was done, it was also barely clean. I've had much better results with a conventional carpet cleaner. Even the SpotBot did a better job! (Yes you can use a SpotBot to clean a large rug -- use the hose and set aside a LOT of time!)It did a bit better on a loose nap rug but again, the results were significantly below what I would consider to be acceptable. The roller bar can be cleaned and should last (according to Bissell) for six months. The problem is that removing it for cleaning is a real bear -- you have to remove several screws to get it off the machine. I was surprised by this design issue given the thought Bissell has put into their other products to make them easy to use.It also has a spray nozzle and hose system for cleaning stairs, furniture, etc. That worked well - just turn the dial on the front to switch to the hose, and it dispensed the fluid and sucked it back up with minimal fuss. It also has a rather unique cleaning head (in addition to the regular one) that can be filled with the Bissell OxyGen cleaning fluid. That was a bit messy in terms of leaks, but a nice idea. I'm a bit concerned about the build quality of the hose assembly - seems rather flimsy.I'll use this mainly as a stair cleaner using the hose and nozzle. I've been using my SpotBot for that, and the longer hose and bigger tanks will make that job easier. Other than that, I can't see much benefit to this model, and I don't feel it is worth the cost charged.I'd recommend the ProDry only if you have nothing but area rugs that are brand new and need only the most gentle of cleaning. For anything else, I think you can do a lot better with a more conventional carpet cleaner from Bissell or Hoover. 16 of 16 people found the following review helpful. Carpet Express C4 Remanufactured Carpet Steam Cleaner Like Rug Doctor

his Rug Doctor Style Carpet Cleaner is a 'steam' carpet extractor for cleaning carpet, upholstery, vehicle, RV & boat interiors, plus more. This machine does NOT have a heater. It uses HOT tap water. This machine is made in the USA by Carpet Express® whose principal owner co-founded the Rug Doctor® in 1973. The 33 years of industry experience is evident in the design, quality & dependability that you will notice with this machine. Our Experience with the Carpet Express C4 Low Moisture Machine! When we put this machine out in our rental stores, our customers preferred this low moisture machine over the other brands of carpet cleaners we offered. Some of our stores even requested that we pick the others up! User Serviceable Components The user serviceable components (Pump, Vacuum, Brush Motor), should you need to repair anything after the warranty, are easily accessible from your local vacuum supply store. If not, we are always willing to provide you with reasonably priced replacement items. Should you take a look "under the hood", the first thing you will notice is all the major components are in one convenient location. This puts the vacuum and solution pump, very close to the working area. Powerful Components in better location than the other guys... The main difference in this Carpet Express C4 a Rug Doctor Style Machine, is the vacuum motor location. It is in the bottom of the unit, close to the suction pick-up opening in the front. In some others, it is in the top, alot further from the suction opening, reducing the efficency of the vacuum motor. Therefore, more solution is recovered resulting in a drier fabric with less residue left in the carpet (which encourages faster resoiling). Low Moisture System just works better! Because the low moisture system dispenses less solution to begin with & the vacuum extracts more of that solution ----- you benefit from a carpet that dries sooner & contains less detergent residue, so it stays cleaner, longer.

I had recently rented the Rug Doctor machine and am not sure which one cleans better. The Carpet Express I am quite sure has better suction. After going over an area 3 times it didn't feel any wetter than after the first time. Rug Doctor strongly recommends not going over an area more than twice. I did and the carpet got too wet.CE seems easier to handle that the RD. Pushing it around was less a problem than the RD. It has a rotary brush an opposed to the shaking or vibrating brush on RD. Not sure which brush style cleans better though. Carpet Express seems to remove dirt as well as the Rug Doctor but sucks up more moisture than RD leaving carpets drier. One negative thing, the CE instructions direct you to use the container that collects dirty water to also mix clean water and carpet cleaning detergent. That's like mopping the bathroom floor with a cleaning solution that's in the toilet stool. Not a good idea. Just use a clean bucket. The ideal may be to clean with Rug Doctor and suck up left over moisture with a Carpet Express. Not sure but I am leaning toward the CE as being better than the RD.I have used pro carpet cleaners and don't think they do a better job than renting a RD or CE. If you have the time and don't mind breaking a sweat by all means do it yourself.(Following reviews from another website)Carpet ExpressPros:* Extracted nearly all of the water we put into the carpet swatches.* Best suited for carpets that are exposed to moderate traffic.Cons:* Cleaner may not remove very heavy soils.* Testers said the cleaner was bulky and heavy to push.* The handle isn't height-adjustable; several of our taller testers had to lean forward while using this cleaner. (The one I rented had an adjustable handle like RD)* The unit cleans and extracts the carpet only on the backward stroke, making it difficult to maneuver around a room.* Some controls may not be intuitive, and you may have to ask a sales associate for a complete instruction manual.* Upholstery attachment tools can be used with this cleaner; but they weren't included with the rental. (I rented from Home Depot and attachment tools came free, RugDoctor at Lowes was an extra $3)Rug Doctor Mighty ProPros:* Picked up a significant amount of dirt in Institute tests and should work well on high-traffic areas.* Extracted almost half of the water we put into the carpets.* Controls are easy to understand and use.* Manual is complete and accurate.Cons:* The machine cleans and extracts only on the backward stroke, making it more difficult to maneuver around a room.* Can be heavy to push when filled with water.* The handle moves forward and backward, but doesn't extend up or down; several of our taller testers had to lean forward while using this cleaner.* Solution and water must be mixed in a separate bucket and poured into the tank, which can be messy. 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Much too loud!!! By R. Ieronimo I have rented Rug Doctor to clean my carpeting in the past and tried this Carpet Express unit from Home Depot today. The price was only twenty dollars for four hours. The unit I rented was brand new. It isn't too heavy and simple to use. It extracted a lot of dirt from my carpet. The problem was that it was unacceptably loud. They should provide a pair of quality ear plugs with this unit! I much prefer the Rug Doctor. See all 2 customer reviews...

Great item! 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Not so great By jeannette My issue with the steamer is as follows:The cloth pad falls off at times. Also, you are basically smearing the dirt around your floor as you clean because the dirt cakes on the cloth. The cloth never fully looks clean even with a wash in the washing machine. They get duller and duller. My steamer quit working today after only 8 uses. It rusted around the cap and begin making an odd noise. See all 3 customer reviews...

Most helpful customer reviews 18 of 18 people found the following review helpful. Excellent Product By Howard M. Kindel Since I've only used this a couple times, I'll update this review if it turns out to be too optimistic. As expected, the vacuum cleaner is very lightweight and compact. It has two settings: high and low. For my purposes, the low setting is perfect; since I have wood floors and scatter rugs, the high setting is unnecessary and tends to grab up the rugs. I think the high setting would be sufficient for carpets though. Best of all, the vacuum is surprisingly quiet - especially on the low setting (I had recently bought a Dirt Devil upright, cheap but 12 amp, which sounds like the proverbial jet engine revving up). One bag comes with the vacuum, and more can easily be ordered from Amazon. The one drawback so far, which keeps it from getting five stars, is that the wand assembly tends to be easily pulled apart. There are no tabs to connect the two metal wands together or to connect the metal wands to the hose connection; all three are just fitted together, and going back and forth over rugs often requires holding the wands together to keep them from pulling apart - I'm reluctant to tape them together since that would limit the vacuum's versatility. The cord is reasonably long, considering how compact the vacuum is; but the retraction mechanism requires working with to get the cord completely retracted. All in all though, a great product for the price.UPDATE: After having used this product for three months, I still consider it an excellent product. The only thing I would add is that the one thing I disliked about it - the flimsy wand assembly that keeps pulling apart - is really starting to get on my nerves; and I'll undoubtedly have to end up taping the pieces of the wand together. Even so, I'm still glad I bought this vacuum cleaner. It was a great buy.UPDATE #2: After almost a year, I'm still pleased with the product. I took the advice of the commenter and taped the end of the wand that kept coming loose before attaching the other wand; this worked beautifully. The bags do fill up very quickly - even with manually removing the pet hair that sticks to the brush bristles and putting it in a separate bag. All in all, though, this is an excellent machine 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Good vacuum, good price. By Clifford B. Paez This vacuum is very small and lightweight, but it has ample cleaning power, even at the low setting. Extremely quiet and easy to carry. Bags are cheap, almost a $1 ea. It doesn't have a rotating brush for carpeted floors, but for the price we didn't mind, most of our flooring is hardwood. Still it does have two setting for carpet and hard floors, the hard floor setting brings the cleaning head closer to the floor with a brush and squeegee seal to help pickup dirt. Comes with a small attachment that cleverly transforms from a small nozzle to a brush end, and conveniently snaps on the back of the main unit. Only minus is the method of connecting the pipes might lose tension over time, but a thumbscrew clamp could fix that when the time comes. Small so it's easy to store. Overall great affordable vacuum. Just what we were looking for. 6 of 8 people found the following review helpful. fairly good By Tingting I bought this vacuum by accident(clicked the wrong item to buy). But it turns out to be a good one for my house. And it cleans my carpet very well. I love this vacuum See all 6 customer reviews...

Once the product is in the Upright position, the brushes automatically stop spinning. The Detent Pedal will activate the brush when floor cleaning. The Custom Clean feature automatically mixes hot tap water with the Bissell formula. Simply choose one of the four settings (Heavy Traffic, Normal Clean, Light Clean, or Rinse) and the ProHeat 2X will adjust the right amount of cleaning solution to mix with the heated water to fit your cleaning need. FAQ What is deep cleaning and why is it worthwhile? Deep cleaning is a carpet-cleaning process that loosens and removes most harmful dirt and ground-in grit, which may be deep down in your rugs and carpets. Not only does it protect the investment you have in your home, but parents of young children, pet owners, and allergy sufferers may find deep cleaning especially beneficial. What features should I consider when I purchase a deep cleaner? It is important to choose a machine that is easy to use and fits your needs. Specific features to consider are heater, brushes, design, power rating, number of cleaning attachments, styling, weight, and warranty. Why do I need a built-in heater on my deep cleaner? The Bissell ProHeat2X with a patented built-in heater heats the water and solution--just like the pros. The water and solution travel through the heater before being sprayed onto your carpet. Bissell provides continuous heated cleaning by raising the temperature of your hot tap water by up to 25 degrees. Other systems use exhaust air from the motor to achieve "heated cleaning." Are the Bissell DirtLifter PowerBrushes safe for my carpeting? The Bissell Research and Development department tests products on a wide variety of the most common types of carpeting for durability and wear. Gatzke This is the first machine I have owned; however, it is among many I have borrowed over many years.Assembling and acquainting myself with it took only 10 minutes.I was very happy to buy this unit as the cleaning solution and water vessels are separate. So, I can rinse my carpets after cleaning them. The heating unit works in just one minute after filling the water bladder and placing it back on the deep cleaner. Then...you are off and cleaning your carpets.Using it on a 12' x 12' bedroom and a 14' x 25' great room was pretty easy and pleasureable. The result was perfection in a spotless carpet! Most importantly, a spotless carpet with little shampooing residue left behind compared to other cleaners. Why not 5 stars as a rating from me?...Well, the following are the issues I have but am willing to deal with:*** They say you can leave the cleaning solution in the tank until the next time you clean, which could be many months from now. I do not recommend this as the unit seemed to leak while the cleaning solution was left in the tank and the unit was merely sitting with the cord wrapped up. Simply dump the cleaning solution back into the bottle and rinse out the vessel.*** Carpet fibers seem to adhere to the bottom of the unit behind the brushes. To avoid dislodging these fibers onto the carpet during cleaning, the bottom of the unit should be wiped down frequently.*** To keep the unit in tip top shape, the rollers, sucking unit, water bladder, and cleaning solution vessel should be removed, rinsed, and allowed to dry thoroughly. Direction are given in the manual to remove all of these items properly; however, it requires 15 minutes of dismantling...then overnight to dry...then another 15 minutes to reassemble. Unscrewing screws is involved 4 screws...this was to access the front sucking nozzle and two rollers. To remove the water bladder and replace it seems to put a bit of wear on the bladder and I anticipate having to buy a replacement for this in the years to come. BUT...each piece that is rinsed off cleans up VERY easily and dries well.*** The design of the water bladder-dirty water vessel is a bit odd. You fill a bladder (plastic) with hot tap water. The bladder is seated in a rigid plastic containment unit. It turns out this rigin plastic containment unit is the dirty water vessel. The water from the carpet is sucked in and resides on the outside of the clean water bladder. Clever design, but somewhat of a pain as the vacuum/ no vacuum trigger can be easily tripped if the unit bumps into furniture or you move it left or right to quickly. The reason seems to be the water sloshing around outside the bladder and inside the bladder flow and trigger the valve to prematurely open and stop the sucking. Not a huge issue, just an annoyance b/c you have to turn off the vacuum and jostle the unit a bit to get the valve to close again.*** The placement of the accessory hose is awkward especially if you are a left-handed vacuumer. My leg would bump into the hose and the latch they have designed to secure it is not very good at keeping it secure. I had to reseat the hose 5 times during the cleaning of my two rooms... Again, an annoyance.*** The wheels on the unit are large in diameter, which makes the unit very easy to maneuver even though it is heavy (I agree with a prior reviewer that heavy is good in a carpet cleaner). However, I question how well they are assembled to the machine as there seems to be some give left-to-right as you turn the unit...we'll see about this in the long run.All in all, I am still quite satisfied with the unit as it does all that I wanted it to do. I am not sure that you would not have other annoyances with other brands as well...in other words, I do not think there is a perfect carpet cleaner as I have been researching them for weeks now...all of them seem to have issues in some way or

I think my Bissel might have been a lemon, but I was unhappy ehough with it that I changed brands. I really like my new Royal. Very smooth, gets the carpet dryer than the Bissell did. I like the options for turning the soap and/or brushes off. My Royal's first job was a soapless clean to remove the chemical dumped in my living room by my Bissell. Talked to a vacuum sales rep after I bought it, he also says this is a fabulous machine, low failure rate. Fairly easy to clean- I do wish it had a place to keep the caps so I can let the tanks dry in the closet. I liked all the extra hand tools (one a rotating brush) on the Bissell, but overall this is a far better machine. 35 of 36 people found the following review helpful. Great carpet cleaner! By Steve First, order a bottle of Royal carpet shampoo. The shampooer, (extractor), doesn't come with shampoo and the warranty voids any repairs/problems if you use a different manufacturer's shampoo. It has something to do with the amount of suds running through the unit. Apparently other shampoos can cause clogging. Anyway... I recently bought a small motel and used the Royal Carpet Extractor with just hot water while I was waiting for the shampoo to arrive. Wow, glad I did. It was amazing how much dirt I got out with the water alone ,but again, these are motel carpets walked over by lots of fishermen and not your average home carpet. When the shampoo arrived I was able to get out the remaining stains and what a difference. Now I go over the carpet first with hot water and follow with shampoo. It saves a lot of shampoo. Another thing I like is the automatic shampoo feeder. Just pour the shampoo into the reservoir, no measuring, add hot water in the tank and it's ready. Much better and easier to use than my Bissell. 30 of 31 people found the following review helpful. Royal Carpet Extractor By K. Blake I also got this Royal to replace my Bissel Pro Heat 2X. The Bissel died after only 8 uses. The Royal was able to pull out all the shampoo and dirt left by the Bissel in the first run. There was so much left in my carpet including all the soap the Bissel didn't pick back up that it was almost mud. I am so much happier with the Royal, especially the 3 year warranty!! The only down side I have found so far it is seems to be heavy and harder to push. However, I would gladly push a little harder to have the great clean carpets!! See all 12 customer reviews...

Did the job By Randolph Palmer My wife bought this machine for my daughter's apartment except I'm the one that got to use it (lol). I've been using a Bissell Green Machine canister for eons and it cleaned ok. This new machine was an eye opener. It is not nearly as loud as the Green Machine and I really like the beater bar brushes. I just cleaned my daughter's carpet last month with the Green Machine but cleaned again yesterday because her elderly cat has been getting sick on the carpet. I just could not believe how dirty the water was that I was sending down the toilet. This new Bissell was working great. It only has a 1/2 gallon tank so I wouldn't recommend it for large jobs but an apartment is where it belongs. I am very satisfied with it and it's not even mine! 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Great Little Cleaner for the price By Sam Gatlin I was amazed at how well this machine cleaned heavily soiled carpet in a high traffic area. You wouldn't want to try and clean a whole house with it but that's not what it's designed for anyway. By the way, the brushes on the one I bought do rotate. See all 6 customer reviews...

Amazon.com Review Using hot tap water and cleaning solution, the 12-amp Hoover SteamVac V2 deep cleans carpet fibers, tough stains, and upholstery. It is also suitable for tile, ceramic, marble, and linoleum floors (though not appropriate for hardwoods). Named for its dual-nozzle construction, the cleaner provides efficient water removal and thorough edge-to-edge cleaning. The nozzle design forces hot air into the cleaning path and automatically rinses carpet clean on the backward pull. The SpinScrub brushes agitate ground-in dirt and can be turned off with a simple switch. Using a two-tank design that holds up to a gallon of water at a time, the cleaner automatically blends the cleaning solution, so you do not have to monitor it. Both tanks feature an enclosed design and convenient handles, making them easy to remove and transport. The recovery tank automatically shuts off suction when full and comes with a built-in lint screen. A removable view window on the nozzle lets you see dirty water returning to the machine. For above-floor tasks, the cleaner comes with an 8-foot hose, a stair/upholstery tool, and a SpinScrub hand tool with rotating brushes. Conversion to tool cleaning is manual but quick, and you can remove the hose and tool caddy altogether for more streamlined use. The cleaner comes with a carrying handle, a 27-foot cord, quick-release cord hooks, and a foot pedal to release the handle. Fingertip switches and a trigger control the rinsing, washing, and Clean Surge functions. The removable brushes and a beltless design simplify maintenance. Hoover includes two 16-ounce bottles of detergent, one for carpet and one for bare floors, and backs up the machine with a full one-year warranty. --Emily Bedard

So close & yet so far away By Arthem Having been so frustrated with my Bissell steam vac that I turned into very small pieces, it was clearly time for a new unit. With a labrador retriever in the house, and a dachshund that my wife refuses to house-train, we are in constant need of a steamvac. I consulted a friend, who suggested the Hoover V2.I brought it home yesterday and assembled it. Assembly was easy, although I did note that the attachment tools carriage was incredibly flimsy, and did a very poor job of actually holding the tools. The only use I can see for this piece of CPS is if you're storing your steamvac in the garage for a few months. You can't really use the steamvac with the hose wrapped in place, as it doesn't stay in place for very long and quickly gets in the way.The tanks lift in and out quite easily, and the solution/water tank is far superior to the old Hoover mixing tank. However, it is very "tall", and thus I was unable to fill it from our upstairs bathroom sinks. This was not the case with the previous Hoover and Bissell models that I've owned.I had it up and running pretty quickly, and was impressed right away. The unit did a great job compared with its unfortunate predecessor. On the first empty of the recovery tank, I did notice that there is no convenient spout, so you have to be careful when pouring out the recovered fluid. I also noticed when I first removed the recovery tank that fluid spilled out as the unit rotated. This was irritating (see the aforementioned dachshund comment).Overall, yesterday I was quite pleased with the performance, despite the minor inconveniences.Today, however, I tried to complete the upstairs & stair cleaning with the steamvac, and my opinion of the device and Hoover has reached a low point. As of this morning, the unit was very leaky. Water from the clean tank pours out & down the back of the unit at a ferocious rate. During use, the water spits out behind the unit. It appears that the clean water and the solution are mixed in a piece of foam that sits beneath the solution & water tanks. this foam is retained by a piece of thin (plastic?), which on my steamvac is angled toward the back, exposing the foam at the rear. As this is where the water spits out, I assume that either the foam is oversaturated, or Hoover has just managed to ignore the fact that a leaking steamvac is not an attractive option to the customer.Being in a fairly bad mood, I proceeded to the Hoover website, to look at the troubleshooting section. No surprise - the troubleshooting part of the website is limited to a collection of trite FAQ's regarding the steamvac, clearly written by someone in marketing from the point of view of "what kind of things might we put on our website to make it look like some customer concerns were being addressed, while really just providing some clever reassurances for people considering purchase."Now in the mood to unleash some choice pejoratives to the good folks at Hoover, I looked about their website for an email address. I did find a section where I could register the steamvac, and provide not only my email address, but all salient facts about my life. However, despite Hoover's apparent interest in contacting me, they did not provide a means to contact them. This implies to me that: a) they're sick of the volume of email complaining about their shoddy product, b) they just don't care, c) their webmaster is as incompetent as their engineers. In any case, had I written this review yesterday, I would have rated the SteamVac V2 as a four or five star. Today, however, it gets a 1, and without some fast talking by the repairman, this particular SteamVac will be heading back to the manufacturer. 105 of 109 people found the following review helpful. easy breezy By A Customer I live in a 1000sqft apt with my esposa & 2 pugsIf you don't know, pugs shed every day of their lives!I've had one for

Great for thorough cleaning of any textured tile floor By island gardener I waited impatiently for this product's release and was not disappointed in it! Due to a knee problem I have difficulty in getting my kitchen floor absolutely clean using the typical spray-and-wipe tools such as the Chlorox Ready-Mop (which I had been using). Those work fine on a smooth surface but can't really get into any lower spots (like grout lines or lower areas in a textured-surface tile) very well. I'd often wished for something like the Black & Decker ScumBuster tool but with a long handle so that it could be used standing up. Well, this new product is exactly that, with the bonus of the onboard liquid dispenser and "mop-up" cloth right there as well. The bottle dispenser attaches instantly with a push-and-click, which is far easier than the setup on the Chlorox ReadyMop. The ability to use any cleanser (or even just hot water if that's your preference) and any mopping pad is yet another plus. My only question is why it took so long for any manufacturer to come up with a cleaning tool like this?! 42 of 45 people found the following review helpful. Don't waste your money! By Pastry chef in training & avid reader I bought this mop when it first came out a few months ago. In retrospect I should have waited and read the reviews first. At first it worked fine but after only a few uses the spray bottle stopped spraying. I called Black and Decker customer service, but they were no help at all. They told me that there were problems with the mop and that I should take it to a local shop to have it fixed. Well, I don't have a lot of spare time, so I thought that I'd just use it without the attached sprayer. I used my own spray bottle. However, just after using the mop a few more times the whole thing completely broke apart. The brush broke off and the mop wouldn't fold back into it's normal position. At that point I was so fed up with the mop and Black and Decker customer service that I just tossed it in the trash. The company itself has acknowledged that there are problems with this mop. It's a shoddy piece of junk and should be taken off the market. 14 of 16 people found the following review helpful. B&D Power Mop By T. Reedy I thought this mop was not too bad to put together. I think that it is easy to use, with the exception that the sprayer is not powered. This is the BEST cleaning mop I have used though. Not sure what they have going on with those pads, but it cleans ten times better than Swiffer and even a regular mop head. My floor hasnt come this clean since I laid it down. The problem is finding replacement pads. NO stores carry them. I called B&D and they advised that they have been on back order from their overseas vendor and that I would need to order on-line or through my local B&D service center. I did place an order for 5 boxes ($[...] per box of 10) and will hopefully get it within a weeks time. They say to take Swiffer pads and wrap them around the mop.....oiy! Who wants to fight with that. I will just wait for my pads, using my Swiffer mop in the mean time. See all 33 customer reviews...

While it doesn't clean as well as it does on the commercials (not that I expected it to) it does a pretty good job. For me, I will sacrifice a bit of cleanliness for convenience, and it is SO much more convenient to use this than it is to lug out a mop! Some people complained about washing the pads. I didn't think it was that big of a deal. I do laundry almost every day here, so I throw it in a garment bag and wash it with the rest of the laundry. It works a lot better than the Swiffer Wet Jet I was previously using, and doesn't leave a residue behind as the Wet Jet did. I found that with repeated cleanings, my floors are showing a real difference compared to the Wet Jet. I think the Wet Jet left behind a lot of dirt and grime, so the shark needed to wash the floor a few times before it was all up. Now my floors look as clean as they did when they were first installed. The only complaint I have is the size of the water tank. Others have complained about this as well. To wash the downstairs bathroom, hallway, and kitchen (all tile) I have to fill it up 2-3 times. While it's not the end of the world, it is a little inconvenient. I bought the Shark at Sam's Club, and it came with a hand-held steamer bottle. I didn't think I would use that at all, but it has been an unexpected bonus! I have soap-scum in one of my showers that I had given up on. I tried every cleaning product. I've scrubbed it. Nothing worked. I tried the steam bottle yesterday, and most of it came off with the steam and some scrubbing. I'll probably need to go over it a couple of times before it's 100% clean, but it did a much better job than anything else I've used. It also works great for cleaning my brushed-nickel faucets. Everything else I used left streaks, and the steamer leaves them streak-free and shiny. Overall, I'm very satisfied with this purchase. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Poor substitute for a mop By Rachel Simon I was very optomistic before purchasing this product. I did not expect miracles but was disappointed in the performance of the product. The steam mop created a great deal of steam but cleaned my floor poorly. The water container had to be refilled four times to do my kitchen floor. The pads need to be changed often and are an annoyance to wash. The instructions say that the pads should be washed in cold water only with liquid detergent and should air dry. This makes it impractical to use without the purchase of additional pads. After cleaning the mop left my tile floor dull. The product may be better suited for use on a laminate wood floor. I ended up returning this item and getting a refund. Not worth the money I spent on it. I am disappointed as I was hoping that it would be the answer to cleaning our tile floors. 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. It works on my kitchen floors just fine.It doesn't get right into cornors but neither did my mop so you'll still have to wipe in hard to reach placesbut overall I am happy with this mop. It does get hot and steams well. I have no doubt any bad stuff on the floor is killed and sanitized. If I could change one thing it would be to have a little bigger of a water tank. I usually have to refill it one time do do my whole kitchen but that isn't a big deal.I would recommend it and am happy with mine. See all 3 customer reviews...

I have been borrowing Bissell carpet cleaners for a while, this one seems to be the best so far. Assembly was easy. It was a little heaver then I expected. I like the water resivoir, they have improved the seals & latches. The stairs are labor intensive, as the water shoots out very concentrated & it takes a lot of work to get them dry. It's great to have clean carpets By Kendra I would much rather have different flooring, but we have carpet on much of the main floor of the house (and elsewhere). Although we have wood in the foyer, we inevitably track dirt into the livingroom and den. We have three children who take food in the living room even though THEY ARE NOT SUPPOSED to! And, we have this fantastic Bissell Carpet Cleaner that removes almost all the dirt and stains.I truly appreciate this carpet cleaner. We bought it based on the reviews of several different companies' machines. We also purchased it to avoid paying a professional carpet cleaner and decided it would make sense to have one of our own. It is a purchase we are glad we made! Every month or so, my husband (his job) moves most of the furniture, gets the carpet cleaner out and cleans our carpets. They always look great afterwards and they dry within a few hours. The machine really scrubs stains and is able to suction up much of the water. It leaves big wet dusty piles of cat hair (even though we vacuum before cleaning), but I pick those up easily (my job). Our machine gets lots of use and has not caused us any problems at all.I've read that cleaning carpets frequently is not very good for the carpet-- it's supposed to add a lot of wear and tear. However, our carpet is still going strong and we try to use the machine every month or so. Our carpet can get so dirty looking after a while that I don't really care if it will affect its longevity-- having our carpet clean and fresh-smelling is much more important to me. 16 of 18 people found the following review helpful. Amazon.com Review With the Platinum Force carpet extractor from Dirt Devil, you don't have to settle for cleaning just the surface of your carpet. Dirt Devil's design ensures that cleaning solution gets deep into the nap of the carpet and then back out just as thoroughly. The power of the machine lies in its two motorized brush heads--which rotate in opposite directions to clean carpet fibers on all sides--and its powerful dual suction nozzles that get floors clean and dry quickly. The one-gallon capacity of the clean-water tank, combined with the separate shampoo tank, means you don't have to refill often or guess at correct solution mixing. Plus, you can switch off the shampoo, for a plain water rinse, if you choose. The ample dirty-water tank is conveniently see-through and easy to carry and empty. Fingertip controls allow easy monitoring of power, solution release, and brush roll rotation. Dirt Devil's wishbone construction makes the machine easy to maneuver, while the 25-foot power cord and removable tool caddy give you versatility and range. Converting to hose-cleaning is easy, thanks to a solution trigger on the hose handle and an upholstery attachment. Quick-release cord hooks and a foot-pedal handle release add to overall convenience. Though the Platinum Force is no runt--its footprint measures 12-by-19-inches-it's well worth its storage space. --Emily Bedard

After the first use alone, I was amazed at the difference in the carpet. Even more amazing is how dirty the water was after use.I feel the result is comparable to that of a professional carpet cleaning, but obviously takes longer than the pros. However, at least when you are done, you have something to show for your money (It will pay for itself in two carpet cleanings compared to a professional). This definitely beats renting machines such as a "Rug Doctor." The tank sizes, cleaning solution tank, and dirty water tank are all comparable. However, the Dirt Devil has a rinse option and the changing of the water and cleaning solution is more user friendly. When I was done cleaning, it took less than five minutes to clean up. A rental machine is a hassle anyway with the paperwork, hauling to and from, and the limited time use. Using this comparison, the Dirt Devil is the best choice hands down. Like any product, it isn't perfect....it is somewhat heavy and takes some strength (on plush carpets - it may be easier on different carpeting). After awhile, holding down the button for a long period of time can start to make your finger ache. It can get cumbersome changing the water if you plan on doing the entire carpet, but you would have this anyway if you were renting one. These are only minor issues and the benefit of the machine makes it well worth it. I purchased mine right here at Amazon.com. Amazon is my recommendation and it only took a week to get. This isn't one of those items that you need to have the next day. It was packaged well and looked great out of the box. Bottom line - it cleans the carpets great, the price is right, and you can't go wrong with the Dirt Devil name. I give it the highest recommendation. 45 of 45 people found the following review helpful. Who needs new carpets? By Catlizg After much research (in stores and on-line) I ultimately decided The Dirt Devil Platinum Force Extractor gave me all the features I wanted at a very reasonable price. By ordering here on Amazon, I paid [money], for a cleaner that I think is comparable to the [$$$] Hoover. With 2 dogs, 2 cats, 3 teenagers and constant company, our carpets really take a beating so cleaning them is a constant battle and [money] to rent a bulky steam cleaner that I only had for 24 hours was a major pain.Well, my new cleaner came via UPS, was set up and ready to go in 20 minutes. The separate tanks for solution, clean and dirty water makes getting ready a breeze. The tanks are very easy to remove and replace and since the machine mixes the solutions for you, no more measuring cups. All the controls are right at your fingertips, and there is even a rinse (no soap) cycle which very few machines have. Well after cleaning my upstairs hallway and stairs, which get the most abuse in my house, I am SO impressed with this machine. Although heavy, the machine was so easy to use, got my carpets incredibly clean leaving a fresh aroma in the air. I had no problem using the attachment tools for the stairs and was surprised at how well it worked! Even my husband was amazed at the muddy, disgusting water that I emptied from the water retrieval tank. With a 1 gallon reservoir, you don't have to constantly run to fill up the tank, and even then, its so easy since all you do is add water, no mixing of solution. The cleaning solution has its own little tank that automatically mixes.I highly recommend this product. It has rejuvenated my poor, beat-up carpet, and all for a reasonable price. 127 of 139 people found the following review helpful. Not bad, but not the best By Allan B. All of our cleaning products are proven safe, gentle, and effective on cleaning carpets. Cleaning effectiveness is dependent upon multiple factors, including brush engagement. The DirtLifter PowerBrush system is a crucial element in our cleaning process and a key factor behind our statement of unbeatable cleaning. Bissell brushes rotate like those on your everyday vacuum cleaner. They are powerful enough to get the deep-down dirt, yet gentle enough to use daily. How is my carpet warranty affected? Until now, to maintain your Scotchgard protector 5-year limited stain warranty you were required to hire a professional cleaner. By using your Bissell ProHeat with Bissell formulas containing Scotchgard protector every 12 months, your carpet's warranty from 3M remains in effect. No other deep-cleaning system can do this for you. Refer to the Scotchgard protector warranty for details.

Bailey I am a 52 year old widow with 4 grown children, and I've always had at least one dog; now with the kids gone I have 3 small dogs. This is the third carpet cleaner I've purchased over 15 years. The first was a Hoover, and though I thought it worked fine, advances over the years have made big improvements both in the machines' ability to clean, and their design. My second machine was the old version of this machine, which was 5 years old, and still working, but one of the kids borrowed it, and when I stressed the importance of cleaning after use, she went nuts and disassembled the thing to clean it (totally unnesessary), and it came back not working well. Obvious user problem, not the machine's fault. So, I ordered the 9400 Select, which arrived promptly from Amazon, quickly assembled it, and went to work in the bedroom. With 3 dogs, I clean the carpet every 3 months. My dogs are potty trained, but they are dogs, after all, and unlike me they can't remove dirty shoes when they enter the house. Amazing what 12 little feet can track in to a carpet! So, between my normal use, and the dogs, I am always looking for the best machine.I am going to post some pictures of the things mentioned, if this site allows... By the way, the room I did first and will base these comments on is a 12x15 foot bedroom, with very light colored carpeting. Some reviewers expressed frustration with the fuzzballs that can get left behind. Yes, this machine does that. It is old carpet, dog fur, and dirt. It is confined, slightly damp, and picks up easily. In this room there were maybe 12 chunks of this stuff, which were picked up as I went along. Not slimy, didn't require toweling or gloves.Next, one reviewer said the machine leaks dirty water spots all over. Again, the machine at the end of a pull does leave some water spots. As soon as you go over the pull again, they are sucked up, leaving no spots in the wake. When I am changing the dirty water tank and refilling the bladder, I always throw a towel under the machine for the few minutes I am away. This is a water/detergent based machine; of course some excess might drip out when it is stationary. All of my machines did this, so I don't even think of it as unusual. As for not knowing when the bladder is empty and needs refilling, I did not hear the "pop" some reviewers did, but I didn't need to stop and check the level, either. I just paid attention when pulling the trigger for the cleaning mode, and if nothing was being sucked up when trigger is released and it is in suction mode, which one can easily see through the clear design, I know there is nothing going out, and it's time to throw out the old water and refill the bladder. In this room, I take an hour or so to clean it properly. People who want a 10 minute clean are going to get exactly that. It takes months, sometimes years for carpeting to get dirty, but some folks want it to be cleaned in 10 minutes. I just don't get that. The trick is that though this is a very easy machine to use, the key is in going SLOWLY, and allowing the machine to do what it was designed to do. Get the fibers wet/soapy; then let the brushes get down deep, suck up the slop the machine cleaned, then turn the dial to rinse only (I always do this, though many don't, because in my opinion detergent residue left behind becomes a magnet of sorts for dirt once the carpet is dry). In any case, to do the job right, this room took me about an hour. Time well spent, with excellent results. Cleanup is a breeze. Take the bladder/ takeup container, empty it, then pour water through the take up holder to get any remaining dirty water out. This takes all of about 1 minute. If my trend of getting a new cleaner about every 5 years continues, and in that time I use the machine 20 times, this is a bargain.I am thrilled with the results this machine gives, and highly

Best Mop Ever By Gotta Love Dogs This has got to be the best mop I have ever used, bought etc. I have pergo floors in my kitchen, foyer and bathrooms and have had to use special floor cleaners for them. Even with buying these cleaners the floors always seemed to have a film left on them or streaks. I even called Pergo customer service to ask them how to get the dirt out of the crevices and they acted like I had three heads. I saw this mop advertised on a commercial and thought I would give it a try. When I received it my husband assembled it in a matter of minutes, I filled it with water, put on the microfiber pad, plugged it in and away I went. I have never had cleaner floors. It takes me maybe 5-7 minutes to do all my floors and they are sparkling. They dry extremely fast and there is no residue or film. When you are finished just take off the pad and throw it in the washing machine. I was expecting company and cleaned the floors before they came over and my friend thought I had new floors! I would highly recommend this mop to anyone. It also works great on carpets to freshen them up or to clean up a spill. 7 of 7 people found the following review helpful. Great weekly hard floor steamer By L. Dasunta I think this steamer works better than the floormate which I used before. When I was finished cleaning with the steamer I could take my shoes off and feel a definite difference when walking on the floor. Using no chemicals makes me feel better and I think my floors are cleaner than they have ever been before. 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Client Satisfied By Cecilia de Sepulveda The machine arrived in time with all accessories and without a scratch. We used it for carpet and tapestry cleaning, and it cleans very well. We must pass it 3-4 times for a good cleaning. The only thing we didn't like of it is that pads are expensive for its durability. See all 10 customer reviews...

By Mona This thing was the biggest waste of $200+ that I have ever spent. First off, I bought it to mainly clean hard floors (vinyl flooring mostly) but the steam sprays forward from one nozzel as opposed to down onto the floor. It sprays forward into a terry pocket that fits on the end of a wand, so the terry gets soaking wet and the floor gets the same cleaning as if you mopped with hot water! I used to own a Eureka Enviro-steamer that sprayed the steam down through several vents directly thru a terry bonnet onto the floor... straight down!! The Eureka worked fabulously except that I had to refill it 3 or 4 times to do all my floors so I gave it away and wasted my hard earned $$$ on this piece of garbage. Now, fast forward to 8 months after I buy it and the on/off switch that controls the steam flow is broken and I cannot turn it OFF!! So I can't use this thing at all because it doesn't build up pressure because the water is spraying out of the tip before it can generate any steam because it won't shut off!! I called the company after an hour of searching the web to find out who to call and guess what????? I have to pay to ship this thing to them with ALL the attachments and then pay to have it shipped back to me!!! DO I NEED TO SPEND ANOTHER 40 OR 50 DOLLARS ON SHIPPING????????? Needless to say, I'm aggravated as all get-out over this thing and my husband is mad that I gave away the Eureka on top of it all!!DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! BETTER YET, EVEN IF YOU ARE OFFERED IT FOR FREE DON'T BOTHER!!! 19 of 20 people found the following review helpful. Awesome steam cleaner! By M. Dittmer I reviewed lots of steam cleaners and decided on the Euro-Pro Shark, for performance, reliability and cost. I have not been disappointed. It's a great appliance with lots of features, and I've used it throughout the house. I was a bit disappointed in the beginning because I thought it would work like magic on impossible stains (watching too many infomercials), but it does get them out if you repeat the treatment or use a green scratch pad on appropriate surfaces. It not only worked well in the bathrooms and kitchen (no more chemicals to bother with), but also on the tile floors and extremely well on carpet spots. In fact it got the carpet spots so clean, I have to clean the entire carpet. With the right attachment, it cleans my tile floors faster and much better than using a mop, and clean up is easier (just toss the terry cloth pad in the washer). This may be the best appliance in my house. 14 of 14 people found the following review helpful. Try this... By Sonny Boy Great product, easy to use... just learn what works for you.
